How Much Hash for a Hash Hole?
Quick answer: Most people use about 0.25g to 0.5g of hash or rosin in a 1g joint, and 0.5g to 1g in a 2g joint. That's roughly one part concentrate to two to four parts flower. Start low, keep the rope thin, and work up if you want more.
Amounts by joint size
| Joint | Flower | Hash or rosin | Rope |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 1/4 | about 0.75g | 0.15g to 0.25g | Pencil-lead thin |
| King size cone | about 1g | 0.25g to 0.5g | Thin |
| Large cone | about 2g | 0.5g to 1g | Coffee-stirrer thick |
These are starting points, not rules. Strength varies a lot between concentrates.
How thick should the rope be?
Thin. The flower has to burn around the rope at the same pace the rope burns. A thick rope melts ahead of the flower and runs. If you want more concentrate, make the rope longer before you make it thicker, and keep it about 1cm short of the tip. The full rolling method is in how to roll a hash hole with a paper tip.
Hash hole vs regular joint
| Hash hole | Regular joint | |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | Higher | Flower only |
| Burn time | Slower, if rolled well | Normal |
| Effort | Extra steps and a stick | Quick |
| Typical size | King size or bigger | Any |
If you're new to concentrates, the low end of the range is plenty. For what a hash hole is and hash vs rosin, see what is a hash hole joint.
Tip size for a hash hole
Match the tip to the joint: 8mm for 1 1/4, 12mm for king size cones and larger. To try a 12mm before buying a full pack, there's a 2-count 12mm sample. More on widths in the filter tip size guide.
